Solar Hot Water

Whenever possible, we design our hot water packages to incorporate an indirect drainback system. We also use flat panel collectors, which have been found to be the best all around choice in the northeast climate.

 

Indirect Systems

An indirect sysytem utilizes two loops of water. The first is the cold domestic water from your storage tank. The second is the solar loop that is heated by the sun. As the sun heats the solar loop, it passes through a heat exchanger, where it transfers heat to the cold domestic water. On a sunny day, an efficient system will heat the water in your storage tank from 50 degrees up to 120 degrees.

Drainback Systems

A drainback system is designed to drain back into a reservoir when the system reaches a desired temperature or when there is not enough solar energy present to heat the water in the storage tank. This eliminates the problems associated with overheating and freeze ups.

Pool Heating Systems
